A place for the Russian avant-guarde art.
Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow
Back in the Soviet times, the Moscow government built a large and rather dull block of a building along the Moscow river enbankment, to house the 20th century part of the vast State Tretyakov Gallery collection. As a separate gallery covering the development of the Russian art through the past century, this collection still exists today. No other museum will ofer you a better insight into the Russian avant-guarde art, the Soviet social realism or the underground movement paintings of the 1060s-1970s.
